It’s well known that resolutions fall by the wayside pretty much two weeks after you make them.
In order to make your resolutions stick this year, try my 7 top tips:
Write a clear goal as to what you want to achieve. Instead of saying ‘I want to lose weight’ state how much you want to lose, by when and why you want to lose weight
From your goal create key milestones that will help you know you’re on your way to achieving it. For example, if you want to lose 10 lbs by 13 March 2015 then your first milestone could be exercise three times a week by 28 January 2015
From your milestones you can then create daily action steps. When you follow your action steps these will lead you to achieving your milestones
From your milestones create new daily habits that you should do in order to get your goals. For example, in the weight loss goal, a daily habit could be to look in the mirror and focus on one thing you love about your body each day
Reward yourself for every achievement in your journey, no matter how small. Rewards help keep you motivated and on track
Don’t give up if you slip up. Too often we slip up in our resolutions and then give up completely. If you slip up, learn from your mistake and keep on going
Visualise yourself achieving your goal every day. Play it in your mind like a movie and focus on what you’re wearing, what you are doing, how you are feeling and what your surroundings are like when you’ve achieved your goal.
